In the classroom
- Students are required to take 3 credit hours of “Diversity” designated courses.
- The Access Center provides accommodations for students based on individual needs. Some accommodations include note taking, testing in a distraction-reduced environment, books in alternate print form (such as audio), adjustable chairs and tables and ASL Interpreting.
Outside the classroom
- WSU Vancouver hosts a variety of student clubs interested in diversity issues.
- On-site childcare is offered through the Child Development Program. A limited amount of need based-aid is available to students for childcare.
- Veterans Affairs helps student veterans make sense of their educational benefit.
- International students receive specialized support from International Student Affairs.
- The Office of Student Affairs also offers counseling services for all students.
Outreach
The campus works closely with the local community through programs such as GEAR-UP, MESA, MOSAIC, Noche de Familia and Connections to develop a welcoming environment for students of color and ethnic diversity at WSU Vancouver.
