About the Academy
The BaCE Summer Pedagogy Academy provides equity-minded tools and culturally responsive teaching practices. The tools and practices explored in the sessions support student success, retention and sense of belonging. The academy directly impacts WSU Vancouver’s Strategic Plan (Goal 2, Objective 3 and Goal 4) to enhance instruction by incorporating culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogy.
The annual four-day summer academy provides you with frameworks and feedback to create and implement meaningful change projects for your courses. In the fall, you are further supported with a check-in session, and in the spring, you may participate in a showcase of you course change project to highlight the ways equity, inclusion and belonging can be infused in the classroom. You will receive a stipend and BaCE credit for participating in the academy in its entirety, and leave the sessions with tools and resources, tacit practice, ongoing support and a community of equity-minded colleagues.
