The following resources can help you tell your story and the stories of those who make up the campus community.

Program news, events, research and community involvement

Faculty, staff and students are best able to convey the story of WSU Vancouver. Stories about research, recent grants, contributions to the community, program changes, and interesting and outstanding students are all potentially of interest to local media.

Ask yourself:

  1. Is my research unique to what is happening in other universities and classrooms?
  2. Does my expertise or research represent current news and events locally or nationally?
  3. How does this story affect the average community member?

ProfNet

ProfNet is a resource for writers from around the country seeking academic expertise. Typically, the communications coordinator will forward you a ProfNet inquiry based on a match between your area of expertise and what the reporter is looking for. After receiving an inquiry, contact the reporter and explain briefly your expertise and opinions that may add to the reporter's story.

Hometown News

An easy way for faculty and staff to share student accomplishments—or for students to share their own. Use this form to submit news.

Publications

Washington State University publishes a wide variety of newsletters, magazines and regular updates. One of these may be able to publish your story. For information, contact the director of marketing and communications at WSU Vancouver.

If you have a story idea or would like more information on WSU Vancouver and the media, contact the campus communications director at 360-546-9601 or brenda_alling@wsu.edu.
