Historian Melissa Williams will share the story of housing and Vancouver’s African American community from 1940-1960. Learn how Black families made Southwest Washington their home during wartime, what factors pushed many out of the area after the war, and about the lasting contributions these first Black residents made to Vancouver.

Doctoral students present their thesis in three minutes or less. The top two finishers will each receive $500. The overall Vancouver winner will compete in the WSU finals held 1 p.m. March 27 in Pullman. See complete rules at 3mt.wsu.edu/rules.
The top three winners from the final competition will receive money toward travel to a research conference of their choice: first place: $3,000; second place: $1,500; third place: $500.
Re-Imagined Radio celebrates Gunsmoke, a defining radio drama in the Western genre, with a compilation of two episodes, "Billy The Kid" (Episode #1, broadcast April 26, 1952) and "Young Man with a Gun" (Episode #123, broadcast Aug. 23, 1954). Both speak to the violence that moved with our country's westward expansion.
