Effective communication drives operational clarity, seamless collaboration and timely project delivery. This course equips project managers with the essential communication skills and strategies needed to lead teams, manage stakeholders, and confidently navigate project challenges. Through interactive sessions, case studies, and practical exercises, participants will learn how to communicate effectively, build strong relationships, and enhance project outcomes.

Who should attend
This course was designed for project managers, team leaders, and professionals involved in project management who seek to enhance their communication skills and improve project outcomes. No prior knowledge of project management is required.

A typical course covers the following:

- Team Collaboration: Foster a collaborative team environment through clear and concise communication techniques
- Communication Strategies: Practice how to adapt communication styles and methods to suit different audiences and project phases
Instructor
Judy Sebastian (she/her/hers) is the principal consultant at Apex Global Consultants (Portland, OR) and senior advisor at Apex Food Consultants (Dubai). She has supported the advancement of employee and organizational development strategies for businesses across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
Sebastian helps new leaders take the guesswork out of leadership. Her dual specialization in public health and HR management enables her to wear multiple hats simultaneously. She is adept at cross-functional communications, conflict resolution and cultural intelligence. Her approach is to co-create meaningful learning experiences that deliver practical and timely tools.
Sebastian holds master’s degree in industrial biotechnology and holds certifications in executive coaching, change management, project management and total quality management.
Cost
The instructional fee is $325. There are limited number of seats available for employees of small businesses with fewer than 150 employees ($245), non-profits and educational institutions ($179), and for current WSU students ($75) and employees ($179). All instructional fees are per person and include a nonrefundable administrative fee of $75. See Registration for details.
The registration fee is the same regardless of residence.
Meetings and format
Blended Format: This course is delivered online with a combination of live instructor-led sessions on Zoom and self-paced learning activities provided by the instructor at a course website. Live sessions offer the chance to interact directly with the instructor and fellow students to learn the content, while self-paced tasks allow students to progress through the course material at their own pace. The self-paced modules can be completed at the student’s convenience within the duration of the course. These modules should take no longer than 8 hours total to complete.
Certificate completion
- Attend at least 2 of 3 live sessions
- Complete at least 3 out of 4 self-paced modules
The self-paced modules may be a combination of forum discussions, engaging with videos, articles, etc. A downloadable version of the slides will be made available at the end of each week.
