It is exciting to announce that WSU Vancouver, along with other WSU campuses, has begun the transition to Zoom Phone.
Throughout the semester, Vancouver IT is transitioning work groups and departments from the outdated Cisco phones which have served our campus for 15 years. This upgrade provides us with a more feature-rich, equitable, seamless, economical, and efficient way to communicate.
Here are a few things to start getting excited about!
- Zoom Phone is a cloud-based phone system that integrates seamlessly with Zoom Workspace which WSU currently uses for video meetings.
- It allows you to make and receive calls including calls directly from your computer/mobile device or from a handset on a desk.
- Features like voicemail, voicemail transcription, call forwarding, and more are all accessible from Zoom Phone plus the ability, if desired, to seamlessly transition calls into video meetings.
- The service brings a range of accessibility features and fully supports 911 calling
- For those who make/receive external (non-WSU) calls, your current phone number will transition over to Zoom, with no interruption in service. For those who don’t use or need the ability to call outside of WSU, we will have a special calling plan for you, too.
- If you’re one of the growing number of users who don’t need or rarely use your traditional desk phone, Zoom Phone can be completely app based, eliminating the need for a handset.
- Zoom Phone is designed for on-campus, remote, and hybrid teams giving each department and user the type of calling experience they want whether it is making calls via the app on a mobile device, receiving calls with a new desk phone, or utilizing your computer as your one-stop place for Zoom communications.
