Position summary:

This position sorts, classifies and rates international and domestic mail for proper postage, and distributes mail for the WSU Vancouver campus. Positions allocated to this level perform routine mail services such as delivering, collecting and sorting United States or other vendor mail, parcel post packages and campus mail and providing routine customer information. When handling mail, incumbents occasionally lift up to 70 pounds and when delivering and collecting mail, incumbents operate motorized vehicles such as passenger cars, station wagons, pickup trucks, vans, or light panel delivery trucks.

Minimum requirements:

High school graduation or equivalent AND possession of a valid unrestricted motor vehicle operator’s license OR equivalent education/experience.

Additional requirements:

Must have, at the time of hire, a valid driver’s license.

Forklift certification or the ability to obtain within first six (6) months.

IATA Dangerous Goods DOT certification for packaging and/or marking of hazardous materials, RCRA certification or the ability to obtain both with the first nine (9) months.

Preferred qualifications:

One-year experience sorting and distributing mail. Experience with shipping and/or receiving at a medium/large institution.

Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint or similar computer software.
