If you enjoy being a visionary leader with strengths in developing an inclusive and engaging environment for diverse student populations on a non-residential campus, WSU Vancouver has a need for a Campus Director of Student Involvement.

Summary of Duties:      

Responsible for the vision and development of student life at WSU Vancouver, including supervision of staff who train and supervise students, recreation programing and facilities, registered student organizations, student government and media organization advising, and ensure that purchasing and travel procedures are correctly implemented.

Create and maintain an inclusive environment to engage a diverse student population. Facilitating student learning and development through participation in student organizations, recreation activities and leadership training. Advise and mentor student organizations and committees, including student government, student media, and leadership organizations. Identify and improve and/or create and market new opportunities to engage a diverse student body.

Implement student leadership training, including program planning, assessment, and facilitation. Responsible for the liability and risk management associated with student programming and for the facilities use of the Firstenburg Student Commons and recreation facilities.

Collaborate with the Student Affairs and Enrollment leadership team and the campus community to provide programs that assist with enrollment initiatives and retention efforts.

Minimum requirements:

Positions require a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a field related to the functional managerial area which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience.

Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. A Masters degree in a relevant field may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience.

Additional requirements:

Ability to work regular evening hours, some weekend hours, overnight and out-of-town trips.

Must have or be able to obtain at time of hire, a valid driver’s license.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration or related field (within one year of completing).
  • Experience with risk management associated with student programs and services.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Experience advising student leaders and student organizations.
  • Experience working at a non-residential campus or with commuter students or education on the theory and practices associated with commuter students.
  • Knowledge of program and event assessment and/or learning outcomes. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity.
  • Experience creating and managing budgets.
  • Experience creating and facilitating leadership or group trainings.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising professional and student staff.
$60,000 - $64,044/year
