The Department of Finance and Management Science in the Carson College of Business at Washington State University is seeking candidates for a permanently funded, full-time non-tenure track position with 9 month academic appointment as an Assistant/Associate Professor of Finance at the Vancouver campus to begin on August 16, 2019.

The successful candidate will be required to teach six 3-credit courses per year (typically three per semester) in introductory finance, financial markets and institutions, and other areas to be determined based on the candidate’s expertise and department needs. Service responsibilities include working with student organizations, building relationships with professionals, and additional relevant service to the campus and discipline to advance the university towards its goals.

Washington State University conducts transformational research and provides world-class education to more than 30,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. Founded in 1890 in Pullman, it is Washington’s original land-grant university. As a campus of Washington State University, WSU Vancouver is an integral part of a Tier-1 Research institution. Business faculty at all WSU campuses are part of the Carson College of Business, which offers AACSB accredited programs at undergraduate, masters, and Ph.D. levels (Ph.D. programs are taught on the Pullman campus).

WSU Vancouver is located on a 351-acre site and we serve regional commuter students, many of whom are first-in-family to attend college. The only public four-year educational institution in Southwest Washington, our campus is located in the 4th largest city in the state of Washington and within the 23rd largest U.S. metropolitan area (>2,200,000 residents). Vancouver is known for its mild climate, access to outdoor recreation, and is adjacent to the Columbia River and Portland, Oregon.

Term, Compensation and Support: 
This is a permanently funded position identified as non-tenure track (clinical). The appointment will be on a contract basis (term to be negotiated) with the opportunity for renewal. Duties are assigned for a nine-month academic calendar from August 16 through May 15. There are opportunities to secure summer funding for teaching or research. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience; benefits are competitive; the retirement system is TIAA.

Minimum requirements:

Candidates for the position must have an earned Ph.D. or research-oriented DBA in Finance or a closely related field from a nationally or internationally recognized university by employment start date.

Qualified candidates must demonstrate evidence of overall teaching excellence and the ability to publish in quality finance journals and maintain AACSB Scholarly Academic status within Carson College of Business guidelines.

Preferred qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have relevant industry experience to support teaching and service and demonstrate ability to contribute to the equity and diversity mission of the campus.

Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
