Creative Pedagogy to Engage, Motivate & Inspire Classroom Community

-

Workshop one of the Roots of Contemporary Issues Instructor Cohort Workshop Series

Co-conducted by: JoAnn LoSavio, Ph.D., assistant professor of history and Roots of Contemporary Issues coordinator; and Aaron Whelchel, Ph.D., associate professor of history. Register in advance to attend. A Zoom link will be sent to registered participants.

The first workshop in the Roots of Contemporary Issues Instructor Cohort Workshop Series delivers creative concrete tools (assignments, exercises, class activities) to RCI/ROOTS instructors that they can implement in their courses, according to theirs and their students' needs, with the intention of helping them create and sustain classroom community. This workshop focuses on nontraditional media and modes of delivery (visual, audio/oral, as well as text) through play and creativity.

About the Roots of Contemporary Issues Instructor Cohort Workshop Series

The series develops an inclusive peer-to-peer platform and community in which instructors of the Roots of Contemporary Issues Program can collaborate on course elements common, share pedagogical resources and experiences, and specifically address contingent RCI/ROOTS faculty concerns and needs. Its primary aim is to foster solidarity among RCI instructors. The series is sponsored by the Council on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at WSU Vancouver through a 2020 Diversity Minigrant. For more information, contact series organizer JoAnn LoSavio at joann.losavio@wsu.edu.
