Connecting Consciousness at the Portland Winter Light Festival

-

Professor Chris Dreger, lecturer in Digital Technology and Culture, and a group of DTC majors are participating in the Portland Winter Light Festival. Their interactive installation, “Connecting Consciousness,” addresses the festival theme, “A Light For Tomorrow,” by exploring the concept of communicating with a consciousness and a living environment; a being who may be alien, or may be a time traveling-evolved human from the future, or something else containing the light of consciousness. The communication language is unknown and, so, visitors will be prompted to elicit a reaction from the lights, sounds and movements that their interactions will trigger. The experience is intended to be both entertaining and thought-provoking.

DTC’s artwork will be exhibited Feb. 7, 8, 14 and 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the World Trade Center. For more information, email Chris Dreger at christopher.dreger@wsu.edu.
