BaCE Enrichment Series Requirements and Workshop Sessions

Step 1, Complete the Intercultural Development Inventory

The IDI® assesses intercultural competence—the capability to shift cultural perspective and authentically adapt behavior to cultural differences and commonalities. After registering for the BaCE Enrichment Series, you will receive information to complete the IDI.

The IDI is required for participation in all sessions of the BaCE Enrichment Series.

Step 2, Take Enrichment Session 1: Group IDI Debrief

Enrichment Session 1: Group IDI Debrief

During this two-hour enrichment session, you will debrief group IDI results, including an overview of group results on the Intercultural Development Continuum. You will consider how to expand intercultural development of your group and lead with an equity lens more intentionally. Individual IDI results will remain confidential and anonymous throughout this session and beyond.

This session is required for all participants. Prerequisite: IDI Assessment

Step 3, Select optional enrichment sessions from this section.

Enrichment Session 2: Equity-Mindedndess 101: What's my role?

This two-hour session holds space for critical reflection and intergroup dialogue on equity, diversity and inclusion within your organization, respective positions and in everyday life. Identify strategies to move pillars of equity-mindedness from theory into practice to impact your organization in the short- and long-term.

Prerequisites: IDI Assessment and Enrichment Session 1: Group IDI Debrief

Enrichment Session 3: Recognizing and Responding to Microaggressions

Engage in intergroup dialogue and culturally responsive activities to recognize microaggressions and their effect on individuals and groups. Analyze strategies to respond to microaggressions and eliminate their occurrence as you explore opportunities to cultivate an organizational community where all members feel a sense of belonging and opportunity to thrive.

Prerequisites: IDI Assessment and Enrichment Session 1: Group IDI Debrief

Enrichment Session 4: Equity in Recruitment, Hiring and Retention

Learn to transform the search process and ensure equity, diversity and inclusion in recruitment, hiring and retention. Consider strategies to expand capacity and re-envision the search process as an opportunity to attract and retain talent, and receive tools to examine and disrupt implicit and explicit bias in accordance with a philosophy of inclusive excellence.

Prerequisites: IDI Assessment and Enrichment Session 1: Group IDI Debrief

Enrichment Session 5: Advancing Equity: Applying IDI and BaCE Tools to Build a Community of Equity

Move reflections from prior sessions, including the group IDI debrief and Equity-Mindedness 101, into actionable strategies to build a community of equity, diversity, inclusion, belonging and justice for your organization. Share organizational equity change strategy to impact process, policy, practice and/or people.

Prerequisites: IDI Assessment and Enrichment Session 1: Group IDI Debrief

The Intercultural Development Inventory and Enrichment Session 1: Group IDI Debrief are required for participation in this program. Complete the remaining four enrichment sessions to receive the WSU Vancouver BaCE Enrichment Series Certificate of Participation.
