Equity Impact Grants

The Council on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion seeks proposals for its 2024/25 Equity Impact Grants (formerly, Diversity Mini Grants) for activities that address and support WSU Vancouver’s Strategic Plan Goal 4. Goal 4 seeks to promote an ethical and socially just society through an intentional commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. The proposal must include one or more of the objectives for goal 4:

Objectives for Goal 4 of the Strategic Plan:

  1. Ensure equitable opportunities and outcomes for all student populations, including parity in recruitment, retention and graduation rates across student demographic groups.
  1. Ensure equitable recruitment, retention and promotion of employees across demographic groups, including increasing representation from underrepresented race/ethnicities (African American, Native American, Latinx and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander employees) to better reflect the diversity of the student body.
  1. Cultivate and maintain a campus climate that fosters belonging, safety and opportunity to thrive for all employees and students.
  1. Develop and employ an equity lens instrument in decision-making, creating and revising of policies, processes and practices across campus departments, units, councils, committees, strategic plans and all campus endeavors.

Purpose:

The Council on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion welcomes and accepts proposals for grants less than or equal to $3,000. Awards will be determined based on the application that advances one or more of the objectives of Goal 4 of WSU Vancouver’s Strategic Plan and states the expected positive impact(s) or outcome(s) of the project or event on the campus and wider community. Grant proposals are open to faculty, students and staff.

Proposals must include:

  1. A brief project overview
  1. Title of the proposed project or event.
  1. Full names of the proposal applicant(s)/author lead(s) and affiliation(s). If you are a student or group of students applying, we encourage you to work with, for example, a mentor, advisor or a person who oversees student services.
  1. A 50- to 100-word summary of the proposed project or event that may be used by CEDI for a news release.
  1. A One-page (maximum) detailed description
  1. Briefly describe the opportunity or challenge your project or event is intended to address.
  1. State the purpose(s) and/or aim(s) of the project or event.
  1. Explain the approach, methods, or strategies: How will the proposal address one or more of the stated objectives of Goal 4 of WSU Vancouver’s Strategic Plan?
  1. State the expected positive impact(s) or outcomes of the project or event on the campus and wider community, if applicable.
  1. Briefly outline the project or event timeline.
  1. A pne-page (maximum) detailed budget
  1. Include a detailed budget of all expenses. A non-exhaustive list of possible expenses to be included are speaker fees, travel expenses, student technicians, purchase of project or event materials, and advertising, among others. CEDI suggests an advertising budget of $100 to $200 to increase proportionally with the grant amount being requested, unless advertising is available through another source or advertisement is not needed. Proposals lacking a detailed budget will not be considered.
  1. State if your project or event has other funding support. If there are other sources of funding, explain how there is no overlap with the requested funding.
