Criteria
The Chancellor’s Award for Staff Excellence recognizes and salutes the dedication and commitment of a civil service or administrative professional staff member in advancing the mission of WSU Vancouver. Award criteria includes active participation with campus activities, excellent performance in the staff member’s own role, demonstrated leadership on behalf of WSU Vancouver and going the extra mile to advance WSU Vancouver. This award is presented annually, typically at the beginning of the academic year.
Timing
Solicitation for nominations will begin during spring semester. The specific timeline will be communicated via campus email and announced in a variety of forums.

Committee guidelines
- Staff Excellence Award Committee members may not submit a nomination or be considered for the Staff Excellence Award during their tenure of service.
- Members of the Staff Excellence Award Committee will serve on a rotating basis in order to serve the entire campus. The rotating positions are for three award terms. The chancellor will invite new committee members based on discussion and recommendations from Cabinet.
Procedure for selecting the winner
- Nominations will be accepted via online submission form or may be directed to the committee in hard-copy form. Nominations must be received by end of business on the last day of the advertised nomination period.
- The Staff Excellence Award Committee will use a number of avenues to solicit nominations and bring awareness of the nomination process, including, but not limited to: FYI Vancouver, Cabinet, Campus Council, CFR, VAC Committee and DAG.
- The supervisor of each nominee will be consulted by the chair of the Staff Excellence Award Committee for additional input.
- Eligible Staff Excellence Award nominees will be notified of their nomination and recognition of those nominees will appear in FYI Vancouver.
- Nominator’s letters will not be given to the nominees by the Staff Excellence Award Committee. The nominator may choose to send their letter to the nominee on their own.
- Members of the Staff Excellence Award Committee will independently review each eligible nomination and rank each nominee based on the award criteria.
- The Staff Excellence Award Committee will meet to discuss the rankings and make a recommendation to the chancellor.
- The Chancellor will select the winner based on the committee’s recommendation and a review of the top two nominations.
- The Staff Excellence Award winner will be presented with the award at the beginning of each academic year (recognizing the employee from the previous academic year).
- The Staff Excellence Award winner will be notified prior to the formal presentation.
