Wireless Internet Access

Registering Your Laptop

As of 5/19/08, it is no longer necessary to register your laptop for wireless internet access. Once you connect to the "WSUV" wireless network in your list of available networks, go to any Web page. You will automatically be redirected to a login page where you need to enter your Network ID and password. After your successful login, you will be able to browse the Web as usual.

Please note: Your laptop must have antivirus software installed and active before connecting to the wireless network. Symantec Antivirus is available for free download to current students. More information is here.

Areas of Coverage

Wireless access is currently available in the following areas. Coverage will expand over time.

• The Quad
• Classroom building room 218
• Most areas of the Multimedia Classroom Building
• Main floor of the Library and 2nd floor classrooms
• Cafeteria
• Some areas in the Engineering/Life Sciences building

Laptops for Checkout

Wireless-equipped laptops are available for checkout from the VCLS 218 computer lab. Before checking out a laptop for the first time, the lab assistant will ask you to fill out and submit a short form. You will then be able to check out a laptop for four hours. Printing from these laptops to computer lab printers is not yet possible but is planned for the coming year.
