Accounts & Passwords

E-Mail

Students:

As most students already have person e-mail accounts that they depend on and check regularly, creating an additional account through us is likely unnecessary. To receive University communications at your personal address,

• log in to MyWSU
• click on the "myProfile" link under the "myTOOLS" section on the left side of the screen
• click on "specify the e-mail address your WSU address will forward to" under the WSU Email Address heading
• Set a valid e-mail address on the subsequent page

From that point on, all email set to your networkID@wsu.edu will be forwarded to your personal account. This is very important as many instructors contact their students using this account.

If you do not already have a personal e-mail account to forward to, you can set one up through one of the many free e-mail services on the Web. Alternately, we can create an account for you on the Ashes student e-mail server. Fill out the student e-mail sign-up form and we will create one for you.

If you are a current student and had an e-mail account on the old student e-mail server "Helium", your account has been moved to a different server called "Ashes". You will need to read the Ashes login instructions page to get in to your account. This e-mail is accessible through the student Webmail page. If your account name was not the same as your network ID, it will soon be changed to your network ID. Please e-mail helplog@vancouver.wsu.edu or call us at (360) 546-9770 for more information.

Computer Science / Engineering:

Computer Science and Engineering accounts are handled on a separate system; if you are a CS or Engineering student, be sure to use that sign-up form linked below. To create an account, you will need your WSU ID number. If you are a student and don't know your number, contact Student Services at 360-546-9559.

Faculty/Staff

WSU Vancouver faculty and staff are given accounts on our Microsoft Exchange e-mail server. We can set up accounts for new employees as soon as a network ID is created. Once you complete that step, contact helplog and request an Exchange e-mail account.

Network ID

Network ID's are required for students to log in to myWSU and for faculty and staff to check payroll information and log in to RONet. Students also use their Network ID's to log in to lab computers. To create your Network ID, you will need to provide your social security number and WSU ID number.

If you did not set a reminder question and are unable to change your own password using the link above, you may do so over the phone by calling the VIT helpdesk at (360) 546-9770. We are open 8am-7pm Monday through Friday.

Web

Any current student, faculty, or staff may request an account on the school Web server. The student Web server is separate from the faculty/staff Web server. To sign up for an account, follow the guide linked below.

Blackboard

Blackboard is an online courseware software application used to teach courses over the Web either as supplemental to a regular class or for classes taught totally online. Blackboard may be accessed on or off campus through a Web browser with Internet access.

Instructors who would like to reqest the creation of a Blackboard course may do so here.

Students log in to Blackboard using their Network ID's and passwords. If you forget your password, either visit a student computer lab or call the helpdesk at (360) 546-9770 and we'll be happy to change your password for you.

If you would like to change the E-mail address or other information listed in your account, go to that same Personal Information page and click "Edit Personal Information". The E-mail address you have set there is where you will receive mail that is sent by instructors and other students from the Blackboard interface. Be sure to use the Set Privacy options on this page if you are concerned with keeping this information private.

WebCT

To log into WebCT, first log into my.wsu.edu with your network id name and password. Click on the Academics link on the left side of the page. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the WebCT CE6. The WebCT browser window should open up with your eLearning page where your WebCT classes are listed. You may need to login again with your network ID and password.

• If you can log into myWSU, but cannot log into WebCT, please request help from the Center for Teaching and Learning
• If you do not see your class listed, please contact the instructor for the class so that they may add you to the course.
• If you are having problems with your web browser and WebCT, click on the Check Browser link on the eLearning page of WebCT.
