VIS Workshops Schedule - Spring 2008

Because the workshops are only available to WSU Vancouver faculty, staff and students and since seating is limited, we ask that you register for each workshop you would like to attend.

HTML I: Introduction to HTML

This workshop is designed to introduce you to Creating Web Pages using HTML. Topics will include: how to add text or graphics, links to other sites, efficient methods for loading and updating web pages onto the campus servers.

HTML II: Tables, Forms, and Image Maps

This workshop will teach you how to use tables to add creativity or variety to your web pages and teach you how to create an electronic mail form for your web page. Some knowledge of HTML or attendance at the HTML I workshop is required.

HTML III: Introduction to Cascading Style Sheets

Learn how to create and use style sheets for any web page. Attendees should already be familiar with creating web pages using code.

Web Accessibility

Learn about issues related to web site accessibility, including definitions, common problems, and web standards. Also learns some simple techniques to make web pages more accessible.

HTML IV: Using Cascading Style Sheets for Layout and Positioning

Learn how to use style sheets to layout and position content on a web page. (Prerequisite: Attendees should take HTML III or have a basic understanding of style sheets.)

This workshop will introduce you to the concepts used in Javascript with some hands on experience adding and modifying simple javascripts.

HTML VI: Creating Simple JavaScripts

This workshop will build on knowledge gained from HTML V. You will create your own simple javascripts. You must either have prior knowledge of JavaScript or have taken the Introduction to JavaScript workshop.

HTML VII: Dynamic HTML

Learn the basics of putting together a web page using HTML, JavaScript, and Style Sheets. Must have prior knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, and Style Sheets or have taken HTML I, HTML III, and HTML V.

SkillSoft

This workshop will introduce the SkillSoft online training environment. SkillSoft provides online workshops on a variety of subjects to WSU faculty, staff and students. You will need to login with your WSU Network ID and password. All work can be done at your own pace and within your own schedule.
