What do all of these IDs and Passwords mean?
As a faculty, staff or student at WSU Vancouver, you will be required to have and use several identification numbers (or logins) and passwords in order to access University and Campus resources. The following is an explanation of the various IDs and why you will need to use them.
WSU ID# and Card:
You should already have received your WSU ID number and should obtain your ID Card as soon as possible. You can get your card by going to the Student Services desk on the 2nd floor of the Student Services building. You will need your ID card to check out materials in the Library and borrow materials from other libraries. In addition, you will need your ID# in order to obtain the other ID numbers listed below.
Network ID or NID:
Your network ID (NID) is a University-wide login that allows you to use myWSU, register for classes, check your grades and check the status of your financial aid. Additionally, you need to use your NID to access library resources from off campus. Information about NIDs is available at: http://www.it.wsu.edu/Nid/nid_info.html.
WSU Vancouver Unix (email) Login and Password:
You will need to have a WSU Vancouver Unix (email) account in order to load Web pages onto the campus server and to send and receive email, if you do not already have email. Information about Unix/Email accounts is available at: http://www.vancouver.wsu.edu/vis/vit/accounts.htm.
Library PIN:
In order to order books through Griffin or Summit, you will need to have your WSU ID# and a PIN (of your choice). You can also check the status of items you have requested or renew books online. You can create a pin and find more information at: http://www.systems.wsu.edu/griffin/help/Create_Pin.htm.
