Vacation Program for Pine E-Mail

When you are going to be away for a period of time, you might want a message to be sent to people who email you letting them know you are gone and when they might expect you back. The following instructions will set up your email account with a vacation message that will automatically be sent to people who email you. The set up must be done in telnet or teraterm in your pine account, but the message will be sent even if you normally use Eudora.

1. Pine Login

a. Login to your email in a Secure Shell (SSH) session.  

b. At the $ prompt enter the following command: $ vacation

c. Follow the instructions on the screen.

2. To remove the vacation message

a. Login to Secure Shell (SSH) again as far as the $ prompt.  

b. Type in: vacation and press enter.

c. Follow the instructions to remove the vacation message.
