AV/Classroom Technology Services FAQ

Q. What version of Microsoft Office do you support?
A. Currently we support Office 2003 on our Windows machines and Office 2004 for Mac on our Macintosh machines. There are sometimes conflicts between different versions but the current versions should read documents from all legacy versions.

Q. What do I do when I am finished with the equipment?
A. When finished with AV equipment please turn off the equipment (it is ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT to turn off the LCD projector when not in use). Do not remove the equipment from the room. Equipment will be retrieved by Media Services.

Q. What do I do if a bulb fails during my class?
A. If a bulb fails during a class please phone Media Services at 546-9440 or 546-9770 for urgent assistance. Please be aware that the majority of our overhead projector units in the classrooms are equipment with a dual bulb system that can be changed by just turning a switch. If you experience a bulb failure and change the fixture in these units please alert Media Services so that we may change the bad bulb before there is another failure.

If you are using an LCD projector in your classroom and you get a lamp replace warning, please report it to Media Services so we can replace it. Please note that the ceiling mounted LCD projectors require a 30-45 minute service call to change bulbs so we may not be able to change those while class is in progress.

Q. As a student can I request equipment or assistance?
A. Yes. All that is needed is the professor's name and class so that we may track usage. Equipment must be used for an academic class, official student club or organization or in conjunction with a University event.

Q. Can equipment be borrowed for off campus use?
A. No. WSU Vancouver Media Services equipment may not be taken off campus.

Q. How can I obtain training on the Instructional Podiums in the Multimedia Classroom Building?
A. You can request training by phoning 546-9440 or sending an email to av@vancouver.wsu.edu
