Contact Information:My Job: I came to work at WSU Vancouver in October 1997 (eleven years ago when the campus was barely one year old). I love my job. Among other things, I manage our web pages and our budget, assist director June Canty on administrative issues, and head the office support staff. Our unit has grown by leaps and bounds over the years. We now offer teacher certification programs at both undergraduate and graduate level. We have endorsement programs for teachers, principal and superintendent credentials, and professional certification and master's degrees for teachers and principals. We even offer a doctoral degree.
Personal Information: I am passionate about anthropology and music (especially The Beatles)! My other interests are many and varied. They include writing, art, archaeology, education, history, literature, nature, travel, and the fight for economic, environmental, and social justice. My husband Steve and I have been married since December 1972. We live in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge where we raised one son and two daughters. Now, we have six grandchildren and another on the way.
Academic Information: I took advantage of my state employee tuition benefits by taking one or two classes every semester while continuing to work full-time. I started as soon as my benefits kicked in (Spring 1998). It took me a long time (ten years!) but I finally completed my bachelor's degree in May 2008. I was admitted to the graduate school in undecided status in May 2008. This summer, I attended archaeology field school at Fort Vancouver and currently, I am enrolled in Anth 561 (Current Trends in Physical Anthropology). I am still considering options for my academic future.
Student Activities: I am a founding member and current officer in both the WSU Vancouver Anthropology Club (aka River Cities Anthropologial Society) and the WSU Vancouver Community Choir. These experiences are not only fun but have also resulted in many rewarding long-term relationships with professors and fellow students.
