Supplemental Instruction (SI) Program
WSU Vancouver offers academic support and assistance for a number of classes through the Supplemental Instruction program.
What is the SI program?
The SI program is an academic support program that targets historically challenging courses to many students. The purpose of the SI program is to help students better understand concepts or applications of course content while improving their grades. Supplemental Instruction Leaders (SI Leaders) facilitate student learning and offer assistance with a particular subject matter.
Who are the SI Leaders, and how does the SI program work?
Most of SI Leaders are junior and senior students who have successfully completed the courses they are assigned to. As SI Leaders possess and demonstrate effective study skills; they help students maximize their potential for their academic success. Find out more about our friendly SI Leaders!
SI Leaders sit in designated classes for the full semester and take lecture notes. SI Leaders facilitate group study sessions twice a week covering the course content, exam review and preparation as well as assisting students in developing effective learning skills. These group sessions are free and open to all students at all levels of academic achievement who are enrolled in the SI supported courses.
