"Race, Class and Economic Recovery in Obama's America"

Kweisi Mfume, Political & Business Leader

From activist to US Congressman to head of the NAACP, it was with bold steps and fierce determination that Kweisi Mfume has become one of America's most provocative public intellectuals. Considered one of today's most respected and influential leaders in the US, he has figured prominently in the American discourse, always presenting his clear vision of the future.

Throughout 2008, Mfume served as national surrogate speaker for the "Obama for America" Presidential campaign, perhaps the most important US presidential election to date. His journey through politics and business include: serving as Baltimore City Council member, Congressman for ten years where he advocated landmark business and civil rights legislation, including the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Civil Rights Bill of 1991, and has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the NAACP.
