Participating in ROAR

ROAR is an action-packed registration and orientation program offered during the summer months and designed to prepare you for the start of classes in the fall. Whether you're a student or family member in attendance, you'll find things to interest and excite you.

All incoming freshmen are required to participate in the two-part ROAR program.

During ROAR you can expect to:

  • Meet with advisors and other campus leaders.
  • Create your schedule and register for fall semester classes.
  • Learn how you can customize your education and open up future career opportunities.
  • Tour campus and attend sessions to get an inside look at life at our world-class university.
  • Learn about the exciting leadership and involvement opportunities that await you.
  • Make real connections with your future classmates.
  • Explore areas of interest to you!

ROAR's Two-Part, Mandatory Program Consists of:

1. A half-day Advising and Registration session offered on Friday, June 27th, 2008 (session has passed) OR Friday, July 25th, 2008. You are encouraged to have a family member attend the family program.

2. A 2-day Orientation session to kick off the start of the academic year. After you have attended the one-day Advising and Registration session there are still many things to know and do before classes begin. Orientation is the week before school begins, on Tuesday, August 19th and Wednesday, August 20th. This program will aid you in getting comfortable with your new college setting. Attendance is mandatory.

New students will be able to explore areas of interest, connect with other students from your GE 101 section and get helpful tips for a successful freshmen year. Your transition is an important time; Orientation will assist in familiarizing yourself with the new campus, community and peers. The 19th consists of an afternoon program and the 20th is a full-day program.
