Parking Information and Traffic Violations360-546-9001
All Washington State motor vehicle traffic laws and parking regulations (RCW & WAC 504-19), with the exception of parking permit requirements or daily payments/scratch permits, are in effect 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
Parking permits or daily payments are required from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, in all lots. Drivers are required to utilize only authorized parking facilities/areas. Visitors to the campus may park in visitor spaces (30-minute zone) located in front of the Student Services and Classroom buildings. Visitors requiring more than 30 minutes time are required to pay for parking. Two-hour parking meters are available in the Orange and Green parking lots. In addition, the Blue parking lot has payment boxes for daily parking.
Annual and semester parking permits are purchased through the Department of Public Safety, located in the Physical Plant Building, or the cashier's office, located in the Student Affairs building, room 200. Refer to the above parking Web site or contact Public Safety at 546-9001 for detailed location and price information.
Daily scratch permits are available from the bookstore, cafeteria, the cashier's office, or the Department of Public Safety.
Parking permits should be clearly displayed in the front windshield, lower portion of the driver's side, so that the permit, the permit number, and validation sticker are clearly visible from the exterior of the vehicle. Scratch permits, which are daily permits valid in either the Red lot or the Gray lot, need to be clearly displayed as well from the rear view mirror or on the dash.
Parking tickets are issued for violations of WAC 504-19. Most ticket offenses paid within 24 hours can be reduced by half. All unpaid tickets, after 45 days, are submitted for collection, along with any applicable administrative fees. If you receive a parking ticket and wish to appeal it, Appeal Forms are located at the public safety office and online at the public safety Web site, www.vancouver.wsu.edu/police . All appeals must be submitted, in writing using this form, within 10 days of the violation. After 10 days, the citation cannot be appealed.
Parking fees are used to support operating and maintenance costs for all the parking lots and roadways, Commute Trip Reduction efforts, to provide future parking, and for public safety services at WSU Vancouver.
The WAC codes contained in the Student Handbook do not include all the rules that apply to students. A complete listing may be obtained at the Office of Student Affairs, VSSB 200.
