MOSAIC 2008: College Awareness and Outreach Program

MOSAIC

Overview

MOSAIC is a free campus visitation program which serves to increase college access and promote awareness regarding academic preparation, paying for college and campus life among historically underrepresented and low-income students. MOSAIC participants will experience a variety of activities that include faculty-led lectures, admissions and financial aid workshops, a cultural performance and more. Students will have the opportunity to interact with WSU Vancouver students, staff and faculty, as well as meet other students from around SW Washington and Portland.

Mission

To work together as a WSU Vancouver community to increase college attendance, preparation and success among historically underrepresented and low-income high school students of SW Washington and Portland.

Goals

  • Increase the number of historically underrepresented students and/or low-income students who attend WSU Vancouver, including students of color.
  • Increase the rate of college attendance, preparation and success among students who attend MOSAIC.
  • Remove institutional barriers which prevent students from attending WSU Vancouver.
  • Incorporate faculty, staff, and WSU Vancouver students in campus recruitment and outreach efforts.
  • Strengthen relationships between WSU Vancouver and its community, including local high schools and school districts, communities of color and low-income communities.
