Frequently Asked
Questions:
1. Do I have to complete an Associate of Arts
or Associate of Science Degree before transferring to WSU Vancouver?
No. In many cases, it is not to
your advantage to complete such a degree. The State of Washington
has set the maximum allowable transferable lower division credits at
110 quarter or 73 semester hour credits. You should concentrate on
completion of biology, chemistry, physics, and math pre-requisites.
2. What "transfer tracks" are available?
1. In fall 2006, WSU
Vancouver will become a four-year university. Students may start
their college careers at WSU Vancouver, or may transfer with no
minimum college credits.
2. Until fall 2006,
you may transfer to WSU Vancouver after completion of 27 semester
(40 quarter) hours of transferable college credit. Students should
have completed at least: one full year of introductory biology, one
full year of inorganic chemistry, and one college-level English
course.
3. You may transfer
to WSU Vancouver after completion of an Associate of Arts Degree or
an Associate of Science Degree. Note, however, that these degrees
are NOT REQUIRED for transfer to WSU Vancouver.
3. How many credits may I transfer to WSU?
Total allowable transfer credits: 135 quarter or 90
semester hours.
Of the total, only
110 quarter or 73 semester hour
lower division (100-200 level) may be transferred towards your
degree.

4. I've heard about the Science and
Engineering Institute. Do I have to be a student in the Institute
to transfer to WSU Vancouver?
No. Students in the Institute are also considered transfer
students. Institute students take community college courses on
the WSU Vancouver campus. These courses are taught by
community college faculty. Students pay community college
tuition and receive a community college transcript after taking such
courses. |
