Pre-Health Professions Advising

If you are interested in medicine, dentistry, optometry, veterinary medicine or other health careers, you will benefit from pre-health advising when you enroll at WSU Vancouver.

Advisors will help you select an appropriate major that fits your particular interests and will assist you in arranging your course schedule to include all the courses required by medical schools. If you opt for a non-science major, it is especially important to seek assistance from an advisor early in order to optimize course choices. Your pre-health advisor will help you enroll in the courses you need to succeed.

Pre-Health advisors help students improve their interview skills in mock interviews, and provides assistance in arranging internships and opportunities to volunteer at local hospitals and clinics. We help you get the experiences you need to become a strong candidate for medical, dental, pharmacy, veterinary, or other health professional school.

Other resources include:

  • Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) and Dental Aptitude Test (DAT) study materials.
  • Books detailing admission requirements at medical, dental and other professional schools.
  • Catalogs from most medical and dental schools.
  • MCAT and DAT application packets.
