WSU Vancouver supports research and education in neuroscience, molecular biology, ecology and environmental issues while providing a great place to work and live. New, well-equipped classroom and research facilities, including a number of specialized laboratories and instrumentation, and a substantial grant-supported scientific staff, support laboratory work. Undergraduates, graduate students and postdoctoral researchers collaborate on a wide variety of research projects, creating an interdisciplinary and collaborative atmosphere.
Our multi-track undergraduate biology degree serves as the basis for a variety of educational goals: Students with interests in the field of environmental science benefit from a "living laboratory" on our 351-acre campus, complete with streams, meadows, forests and wetlands in close proximity to the Columbia River, old growth forests, the Cascade Mountains, and the Washington and Oregon coastlines.
Students benefit from outstanding faculty, world-class research, state-of-the-art facilities and small class sizes. Many undergraduates enjoy the opportunity to participate in scientific research with our faculty.
Students interested in preparing for application to graduate or health professional schools (pre-med, pre-dental, pre-veterinary, etc.) will benefit from challenging courses and a supportive faculty.
Teacher certification in the area of biology is also offered on our campus, and students may complete required courses for endorsement in our program.
Our MS degree in Environmental Science allows students to complete graduate work on our campus, and graduate students who wish to pursue the Ph.D. degree with faculty at WSU Vancouver may do so through our affiliation with the WSU Campus in Pullman, Washington.
