Campus
|
The Science Programs
are located in the new Engineering-Life Science Building
which contains instructional classrooms, teaching labs,
research labs and faculty offices. Completed in 2000,
the building has spectacular views of Mt. St. Helens and
Mt. Hood.
 |
Research laboratories
 |
Faculty
and student research is conducted in state-of-the-art
facilities. Current laboratory research focuses on a wide
variety of topics including biochemistry, molecular and
population genetics, climate change, glacial geology,
marine ecology and human impact assessment. |
Research Extension Unit
| Close to
campus is the College of Agriculture and Home Economics'
Research and Extension Unit. This 80 acre site has
facilities that support a wide variety of research and
educational activities involving agriculture,
entomology, environmental horticulture, natural
resource sciences and more. This facility also serves to
coordinate educational and research activities of WSU
through southwest Washington. |
 |
Computer classrooms
| The
classroom building is equipped with the latest computer
equipment for both instructional and student use. The
planned multimedia classroom will significantly expand
the capacity to utilize modern computer technology. |
 |
Distance Education
| Because
WSU is a single campus, geographically dispersed,
communication among campuses throughout the state and
with the University of Washington is important.
WHETS
(Washington High Educations Telecommunication System)
was created to facilitate this interaction. Students at
the WSU Vancouver campus use WHETS to fulfill course
requirements, teleconference to other institutions, and
share in state-wide presentations.
