What is an Internship?
An internship is a self-initiated, supervised work experience with appropriate private organizations, businesses, or government agencies that increases interaction with professionals in related fields.
What is the purpose of an internship?
- To enhance students’ professional preparation through direct involvement in their chosen field.
- To provide a learning environment where students apply knowledge and skills acquired in the classroom setting
- To realistically prepare students to enter professional positions.

How do you get an internship?
Getting an internship depends on your field of interest. Most students should talk to faculty about getting an internship. There are a few exceptions. See below for more detailed information.
