Nurse Educator Certification Program
In partnership with the Northwest Health Foundation, WSUV Nursing is very pleased to offer this program in our ongoing efforts to meet the growing challenges of a shortage of qualified nurse educators. This program represents a unique partnership between the WSU Vancouver departments of Nursing and Information Technology and support systems. As part of the outcomes for this program, the NWHF has asked us to report on our work. For examples of programmatic implication click here.
The nurse educator certification program includes the completion of a sequence of four theory courses that focus on teaching and learning with technology with a specialty in distance friendly education pedagogy. Each course is designed to be mostly web based with minimal face-to-face meetings. Practicum experiences are available with some of the theory courses and there is an intensive student teaching practicum available as the fifth course in the certification program. A certificate will be awarded upon completion of the designated courses.
