CLA Research Funding Application

The College of Liberal Arts will provide research funds of up to $2,000 to support scholarly activity. This includes, but is not limited to, funds for supplies, equipment, travel and student support. All faculty with tenure track appointments in CLA are eligible to apply. Individual or collaborative proposals will be considered. Proposals will be judged on the intrinsic merit of the research and the likelihood that the research will be completed in the time specified. Junior faculty, or faculty without a history of CLA funding, will be given preference, although all faculty are eligible. All requested support must be completed by October 15th of each year, and a brief summary of the work submitted. Applications will be accepted twice per year, on the 15th of October and 15th of March. In order to support as many faculty as possible, preference will (in most circumstances) be given to many small awards, than one very large one.

Application for Funding CLA Speaking Awards

Speakers funding is designed to help bring outside speakers to give talks for CLA. Anyone teaching classes in CLA may apply at any time for this funding. Applications are considered on a rolling basis. A separate application must be completed for each individual speaker.

Funding is available for up to $500 per speaker. If funds in excess of $500 are needed, please refer to special projects funding. Applications for panels of speakers should also be submitted as special projects.

CLA Application fot Special Projects Funding

Special Project Proposals are for activities that do not fit into the Research or Speakers' Proposal format. This would include, but is not limited to nationally-known speakers, equipment, and support directed toward the improvement of teaching. Awards up to $2000 are available to all faculty and staff with permanent appointments in CLA. Individual or collaborative proposals will be considered. Proposals will be judged on the intrinsic merit of the project and the likelihood that the project will be completed in the time specified. All requested support must be completed by October 15th of the year, and a brief summary of the completed project submitted. Applications will be accepted twice a year, on the 15th of November and 15th of February. Requests for under $500 will be reviewed on a rolling basis as they are received. Actual awards will be decided by the committee. In order to support as many faculty as possible, preference will (in most circumstances) be given to many small awards, than one very large one.
