Course Overview
This course deals with the concepts, issues and techniques of new venture creation and entrepreneurship.

Entrepreneurship deals with all aspects of starting a business and running it in a changing environment. Entrepreneurs need a variety of business and personal skills to become successful. Marketing efforts that are tuned to start-ups are the principal reason for the success or failure of start-up companies. This course will offer a broad-based collection of skills and experiences to assist students interested in becoming budding entrepreneurs.

Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to :

  1. Develop concepts and ideas that will relate to entrepreneurial activities. Students will develop business ideas that can be potentially turned into active businesses in the near term.

  2. Analyze the entrepreneurial idea for its plus and minus points from many different viewpoints and screen out poor ideas.

  3. Evaluate entrepreneurial ideas that exist in contemporary business society.

  4. Examine and research ideas from the standpoint of firms with similar ideas that currently exist in the marketplace.

  5. Understand company formation.

  6. Appreciate resource requirements.

  7. Judge the financing needs of companies and search for financing opportunities.

  8. Understand how best to obtain debt capital.

  9. Manage rapid growth after initial success.

  10. Avoid company failures.
