Course Overview
This course explores how a select set of organizations are
successfully implementing e-business technologies to gain advantages in the
marketplace. In particular, the course emphasizes the new ways of thinking about
business and about organizing along with an understanding of the actions that
need to be taken to bring Net-enhanced business initiatives into reality.
3 credits.
Course Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, students should be able
to :
- Describe the key concepts of NEOs, i.e., how they are distinct
from traditional businesses.
- Define and explain the nature and role of basic e-business
technologies.
- Strategize about business models and plans using e-business
theories and insights.
- Describe why becoming more 'virtual' can improve firms' competitive positions.
- Understand the main obstacles faced by e-business initiatives.
- Understand the social and legal structures that support
and hinder e-business initiatives.
- Speculate, based on emergent e-business technologies, how the world might change in dramatic ways over the next decade.

MIS 250.
