MIS 374  Information Technology Infrastructure


Course Overview
This course provides an in-depth knowledge of data communications and networking requirements including the study of networking and telecommunications technologies, models, protocols, hardware, and software. Emphasis is on the detailed coverage of technical components in LAN/WAN systems: data, media, transmission device, and standards.
3 credits.

Course Objectives
After completing this course, students should be able to :

  1. Understand the OSI model and its use as a basis for network design and troubleshooting.
  2. Understand technical components of LAN/WAN systems including data, media, transmission devices, and standards.
  3. Understand application of technical components to service the needs of organizations, as well as issues dealing with contemporary security issues.
