Question 1.
Q. How do I apply for the MBA?
A. The most expeditious way to apply is online at http://www.gradsch.wsu.edu/howtoapply.htm or you can request that an application be sent to you by calling the Admissions Office at (360) 546-9788 or e-mailing them at admissions@vancouver.wsu.edu.
Question 2.
Q. What documents do I need to submit when applying?
A. You need to send all application materials to the Graduate School in Pullman.

The following are due at The Graduate School in Pullman: (address below)
  1. Paid application
  2. Official transcripts showing the degrees earned.
  3. Official transcript for each higher education institution listed on your application
  4. Official document with scores for the GMAT.
  5. An updated resume.
  6. Three letters of recommendation directly sent from references.

Question 3.
Q. Where do I send my application materials?
A. Your payment and documentation to the Graduate School in Pullman:
Official documents sent directly by registrars, GMAT and references, to:
Washington State University
Graduate School/MBA
PO Box 641030
Pullman, WA 99164-1030

Question 4.
Q. Who is eligible to apply for the MBA?
A. To apply for admission:
  • Students must have a baccalaureate degree (in any area) from an accredited college or university,
  • Grade point average of 3.0 or better in their last 60 semester hours of undergraduate coursework,
  • Score of 550 or better on the GMAT (Graduate Management Admissions Test).
NOTE: Students who have a BA in Business Administration will probably have completed all the foundation (prerequisite) courses for the MBA.
Question 5.
Q. What are the MBA degree requirements?
A. Degree Requirements

The MBA program requires the completion of three components:
  1. Foundation Courses (can be completed as non-degree or undergraduate; they can be transferred from another accredited institution if qualified)
  2. Required or Core Courses (33 credits)
  3. Final Presentation (2 credits)
Students who have started an MBA program at another International Association for Management Education (AACSB) accredited institution can transfer up a total of 6 credits toward their required and elective course work.
Question 6.
Q. How are applications evaluated?
A. Understanding the evaluation process can be useful to clarify the status of your file and the timeline to be expected both by the University and the student.

After the Graduate School in Pullman has received "your file", meaning ALL of the required official documents above, a departmental recommendation form is generated. It includes the GPA calculated by the Graduate School, and the Graduate School recommendation for admission or denial. This form is received at Vancouver to be evaluated by our Business Graduate Coordinator, Dr. Jerry Goodstein. The form is added to the applicant's file.

In Vancouver, ONLY COMPLETED FILES will be evaluated by Dr. Goodstein.

Again, the completion deadlines:
  1. OCTOBER 1 for SPRING applications
  2. JANUARY 1 for SUMMER applications
  3. MARCH 1 for FALL applications
Questions about the status of your file can be addressed to Mary Stender, at (360) 546-9751 or stender@vancouver.wsu.edu.

Dr. Goodstein will evaluate all COMPLETE files. The departmental recommendations on all applicants for the term will be forwarded to the Director of the College of Business Graduate Program in Pullman. The Director will review, sign and forward the recommendations to the Graduate School in Pullman.

The Graduate School will admit or deny admission based upon the recommendations. Admission dates will be established and students will be notified.
Question 7.
Q. What are the minimum standards for admission to the MBA program?
A. The minimum standards are as follows:
  1. Students must have earned a 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) average for the last 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of graded undergraduate work.
  2. Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score of 550 or better.

Question 8.
Q. What if I feel my file should be complete, but I am advised that it is not?
A. Know the progress of your file. Asking to have transcripts sent, does not always mean they have been, or that they have been received. Questions about the status of your file can be addressed to Mary Stender at (360) 546-9751 or e-mail stender@vancouver.wsu.edu. Mary can tell you what has been received in Vancouver and at the Graduate School.

Incomplete files will be evaluated as ¨denied: incomplete file¨. Students who have been denied for this reason will need to reapply and pay the application fee again; OR if a student sees that the file will not be complete by the deadline, he/she can defer enrollment to another term (prior to evaluation) by contacting Mary Stender. Students can defer a maximum of three times before necessitating reapplication and repayment.
Question 9.
Q. If I am denied admission, what should I do?
A. If you wish to discuss your denial, please feel free to contact Dr. Goodstein. It is possible to be denied admission and reapply, assuming that you address the concerns that led to the initial denial, e.g., retaking the GMAT exam and receiving a score that exceeds the required score noted above.
Question 10.
Q. Are courses offered evenings and weekends?
A. All MBA courses are offered in the evenings-Monday through Thursday.
Question 11.
Q. How long does it take to get through the program?
A. It is possible to complete the program in two and one half years provided there are no scheduling conflicts.
Question 12.
Q. I need several of the foundation classes, should I get admitted to the MBA program and then start the foundations?
A. We usually recommend that students apply non-degree to complete the foundation courses, because tuition is less for non-degree than for graduate students. Be sure to contact the Business Programs office at (360) 546-9751 to advise your intent. (File online as a "non-degree" student.) If you need to be degree seeking for financial aid, contact the Business Programs at (360) 546-9751 for advice or e-mail Mary Stender.
Question 13.
Q. If I am taking the foundation courses, when should I apply for admission to the MBA?
A. If you know when you are planning to finish the foundations, you can apply at any time, for the following year/term. Most people like to have the foundations completed, take the GMAT, and then apply for the next term. Keep in mind the deadline for completed application files: October 1 for spring terms and March 1 for fall terms and January 1 for summer terms.
Question 14.
Q. Can I take MBA core courses before I am admitted to the MBA Program?
A. This is such an important question! No MBA core courses can be taken before a student is admitted to the program. IF a student does happen to get through a core class before admission, it will not count toward completion of the degree. This is very important!
Question 15.
Q. If I am admitted to the MBA Program, having finished most, but not all of the foundations, can I take core and foundation courses at the same time?
A. Yes, provided that you have taken the foundation (prerequisite) course necessary for the core course:
