Fin 421  Financial Markets and Intermediation

Course Overview
This course is designed for students who plan a career in the financial services industry as well as students who plan to work in corporate finance and are potential or likely consumers of the services provided by institutions.
3 credits.

Course Objectives
It is expected that at the conclusion of the course, students will be able to :

  1. Describe the various forms of financial institutions and articulate these institutions' economic role in the domestic and international economy.

  2. Evaluate the financial health of a financial institution.

  3. Quantify the risk exposures of a financial institution.

  4. Devise a feasible method of controlling risks.

  5. Identify and value various forms of fixed income securities and their derivatives.
