WSU Vancouver Offers Adult Learners, Teachers a Week of Free Classes

VANCOUVER, Wash. - Four days of free classes for adults, on all sorts of topics from landscaping to creative thinking to computer game programming and more, will be offered at Washington State University Vancouver Aug. 4 - 7. 

The Center for Youth Workforce Preparation at WSU Vancouver is expanding its summer academy for middle and high school students to add programs for adults this year. These new programs were originally designed for teachers, who can receive clock hours for these courses. However, the free pilot project is now being offered to any interested adults.

The classes are 1 - 2:30 p.m. each day. Registration is being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

The full list of class choices includes -

• Aug. 4: Beneficial Landscaping, Exploring Science Outdoors, College 101
• Aug. 5: Game Programming with Java, WSU Science Equipment Loan Program, Understanding Brain Function Through Illusions
• Aug. 6: Game Programming with Java, How Printers Work, Developing Your Creative Thinking
• Aug. 7: Washington's Native Plants; Business and Financial Literacy; more

Information and registration about the adult summer courses and the Preparation and Career Exploration Academy are online at http://www.vancouver.wsu.edu/pace.

Parents of students attending PaCE are welcome to attend the adult courses. Registration is required for both.
