WSU Vancouver Invites Community to Join Students, Staff in Day of Service Jan. 19

Vancouver, Wash. - Washington State University Vancouver invites community members to join students, staff, and faculty for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service event.  Honor Dr. King's legacy by serving the community and commemorating the 80th anniversary of his birth, Jan. 19, as part of a nation-wide day of service. Schedule

  • 9 a.m. - Registration and light refreshments
  • 9:20 a.m. - Presentation by Jorge Lizárraga, Diversity Faculty Fellow, Firstenburg Student Commons
  • 10 a.m. - Service Projects:
    • Quilting for the Needy (on campus)
    • Elementary school beautification
    • Landscaping with Habitat for Humanity
    • Sorting canned goods at a food bank
    • Planting trees in watershed

Parking and Transportation

All campus parking lots are available for free public use during the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service event. Transportation to the projects and back to WSU Vancouver will not be provided; carpooling is encouraged.
