WSU Vancouver Hosts a Poverty Banquet Event

Vancouver, Wash. - Washington State University Vancouver is hosting a banquet to raise awareness about local and global poverty issues 7 - 8 p.m. Friday, July 10 in the Firstenburg Student Commons. This event is free and open to the public.
Upon arrival, guests (or groups of guests) will be randomly assigned to dine in one of three groups representing world income classes:
- Upper 15% - Three-course dinner
(representing the 15% of the world's population with a per capita yearly income of $12,000 or more)- Middle 25% - Pizza
(representing the 25% of the world's population with a per capita yearly income between $987 and $11,999)- Lower 60% - Bread and water
(representing the 60% of the world's population with a per capita yearly income of less than $986 a year)
Guest speakers at the Poverty Banquet will be David Bowlan of the Luepke Loaves & Fishes meal center and Minda Seibert of Mercy Corps. They will address issues related to local and global poverty and hunger.

Tickets can be reserved online or by calling 360-546-9340.
Donations can be made to Luepke Loaves & Fishes or Mercy Corps at the door. A donation of $5 per ticket is suggested. Event sponsors include Billygan's Roadhouse, Fred Meyer and Round Table Pizza.
Parking is free in all campus lots for the Poverty Banquet.
