Vancouver, Wash. - Students, staff and faculty of Washington State University have combined many talents once again this year to produce the ninth annual edition of the Salmon Creek Journal, a collection of short stories, poetry, essays and visual art.
The editorial staff of students and one faculty advisor will host a launch party from 4 to 6 p.m., April 26 on the WSU Vancouver patio between the Library and Multimedia Classroom building. In case of rain, the party will be moved to room 217 in the Multimedia Classroom building.
The editorial picks for first place in the categories of Short Story, Poetry, Nonfiction or Essay, Visual Art and Integrated Art categories will be announced at the party, and refreshments and live music will be provided by Tommy O's Pacific Rim Bistro.
Copies of the journal will be available for all who attend the party, and the writers will be available for autographs. Artists appearing in the journal will have their art available for sale.
"I enjoy the literary circle," said Linda Augustine, a senior English major and managing editor of the SCJ.
After the party, free copies of the Salmon Creek Journal will be available in the Writing Center, on the second floor of the WSU Vancouver library building, until all 850 books are taken.
