VANCOUVER, Wash. - This year marks the Tenth Annual Student Exhibition at Washington State University Vancouver, in the Administration Building gallery through June 22.
The photographs on display were both captured and printed digitally. Harrison Higgs, Assistant Professor of Fine Arts, organizes the show each year, drawing from students from the campus Fine Arts classes. This year, the participating students were enrolled in the Digital Photography class.
Works displaying the photography of artist and WSU Vancouver employee Kris Engel are featured in the Engineering and Life Sciences Building gallery through July 9.
Engel is a native of Long Island, NY, and she traveled extensively about the country before settling in the Pacific Northwest with her two sons.
Her work is eclectic, including images with vibrant colors, contrasts, shadows and subdued themes. The artist's work fluctuates between the use of raw unaltered photographs and creative digital enhancement.
Entry to the exhibits is free. WSU Vancouver galleries are open weekdays, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.
WSU Vancouver is located at 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave., east of the 134th Street exit from either I-5 or I-205. Parking is available in the blue lot for $2 or at parking meters. WSU Vancouver offers 14 Bachelor's degrees, nine Master's degrees and one Doctorate degree and more than 35 fields of study. Visit us on the Web at http://www.vancouver.wsu.edu.
