"Many Voices" Express Diversity in WSU Vancouver Library Gallery Showing

VANCOUVER, Wash. - A collection of artwork titled "Many Voices" features a variety of medium and artists and is on display in the Library at Washington State University Vancouver through May 25.
This exhibition brings together a group of artists whose work explores themes of identity and react to being labeled as an outsider or "other." The works on display include photographs, sculpture, installation and hand made books. Many of the pieces are crafted with unusual material or found objects.
"The lack of true diversity in most media, not to mention real life, is painfully obvious," said curator Sam MacKenzie. "The goal of this show is simply to show diversity by sharing a multitude of voices, especially those that are heard less often. These voices may not fit into the typical diversity categories of race, gender, sexuality, or religion, but they are meant to remind us that we are all different and all need to be seen as human beings. "

The WSU Vancouver Library is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
WSU Vancouver is located at 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave., east of the 134th Street exit from either I-5 or I-205. Parking is available in the blue lot for $2 or at parking meters.
