Graduating Engineers Present Capstone Partnership Projects

Vancouver, Wash. - The School of Engineering and Computer Science at Washington State University Vancouver presents a display of seven capstone projects from graduating seniors, 3:30 to 6 p.m., April 23. The event is free and open to the public.
Mostly sponsored by the local companies in Southwest Washington, each project will be presented and defended by the senior graduating students.
"We want to show how WSU Vancouver is supporting the local companies in solving their engineering problems," said Amir Jokar, assistant professor of mechanical engineering. The sponsor companies' representatives will be present at the event.
The projects and their sponsors, as well as presentation times, are as follows:
- Low Power, Icing Resistant Enclosure System for Mount St Helens Crater Rim Camera, USGS Cascade Volcano Observatory, 3:30 - 3:45 p.m.
- Design of Band Saw Swaging Machine, Armstrong Manufacturing Co., 3:50 - 4:05 p.m.
- Opto Mechanical Package Development, nLight Photonics, 4:10 - 4:25 p.m.
- Mixed Fluid Power System, SAIC Maritime Technologies, 4:30 - 4:45 p.m.
- Underwater Short Baseline Acoustic Positioning System, SAIC Maritime Technologies, 4:50 - 5:05 p.m.
- StressWave Pressure Tool Design (6 Sigma project), StressWave Inc., 5:10 - 5:25 p.m.
- 2007 ASME Human Powered Vehicle Challenge, School of Engineering and Computer Science, WSU Vancouver, 5:30 - 5:45 p.m.
