VANCOUVER, Wash. - Washington State University Vancouver invites the Southwest Washington community to the first Chancellor's Seminar of the year, Bob Drewel's "A Glimpse into the Future of Southwest Washington: How Will We Get There?" The lecture is 12 to 1:30 p.m., Sept. 12, in the WSU Vancouver Firstenburg Student Commons. Tickets are $30, including lunch and event parking.
To purchase tickets, visit http://www.vancouverusa.com or call the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce at 360-694-2588.
As Southwest Washington continues its transformation from bedroom community to a regional, national and global economic force in its own right, it is important to recognize and honor the interdependence between its various stakeholders in the private and public sectors, including the community, local government, and businesses.
Bob Drewel is well known for his leadership in promoting regional solutions to the many challenges facing the Northwest, including economic development, effective land-use regulation, transportation and environmental enhancement. During his career, Drewel has successfully worked to build partnerships between the private and public sectors. In his talk Drewel says that we all share the vision for a healthy and vigorous community, but how do we address the often conflicting interests of these stakeholders?
He currently serves as Executive Director of the Puget Sound Regional Council, which serves as the Metropolitan Planning Organization, Regional Transportation Planning Organization and Economic Development District for the central Puget Sound region. Prior to his appointment as PSRC Executive Director, Drewel served 12 years as Snohomish County Executive. He has served on numerous civic, charitable, community and economic development boards throughout Snohomish County and the Puget Sound region.
