Especially for Faculty, Staff, and Students
Guide to promoting your news, events, research and stories on and off campus
The Importance of Media Coverage
Media coverage about WSU Vancouver and the exciting things that faculty, staff and students do here plays a significant role in building awareness and recognition in this region. Recognition is built not only for the individual faculty member, but their department and WSU Vancouver.
What are faculty and students researching? What types of students attend the University? How do they juggle work, school, play and still manage to give back to the community?
If you have a story idea or would like more information on WSU Vancouver and the media contact the Campus Communications Coordinator at 360-546-9602 or news@vancouver.wsu.edu.

Outlets for telling your story
Media Inquiries
ProfNet
ProfNet is a resource for writers from around the country seeking academic expertise. Typically, the communications coordinator will forward you a ProfNet inquiry based on a match between your area of expertise and what the reporter is looking for. After receiving an inquiry your response would be to contact the reporter and explain briefly your expertise and opinions that may add to the reporter’s story.
Faculty Experts Guide for News Media
This guide is a resource for regional media searching for academic commentary in a variety of media stories. Upon joining WSU Vancouver, you are asked to fill out a New Faculty Questionnaire outlining your areas or expertise. If you agree, your name is listed under specific topics in the guide. Each year you are asked to provide updates for the next version.
