Community Uses of Campus

Community members of all ages can benefit from having access to a major research university in the region. In addition to world class degree and continuing education programs, WSU Vancouver also provides a wide array of community resources:

Community Uses of Campus

Check it Out!

WSU has one of the most sophisticated research libraries in the nation, and community members are welcome to make use of the University's library resources by obtaining an Off-Campus Borrower's Card. This free card allows community members to use the WSU Vancouver Library and materials, access online resources and investigate other information sources during their visit to the library. Off-campus borrowers may request books from any of WSU's ten libraries. Children under 18 may apply for a Youth Card which requires parental approval. For more information, e-mail the WSU Vancouver Library or call (360) 546-9686.

Art on Campus

The gallery spaces in the Student Services and Engineering Life Sciences buildings are administered by the Office of Campus Advancement and changed each semester. For more information, visit the Art on Campus web page or contact the Office of Campus Advancement at (360) 546-9600.

Campus Bookstore

Operated by the Students Book Corporation, the "Bookies" as it is known on all WSU campuses, offers WSU merchandise, famous Cougar Gold cheese, textbooks and other titles, classroom supplies and Cougar Apparel. Located on the WSU Vancouver campus, the Bookie also offers espresso, snacks and beverages, and can be reached by calling (360) 573-0447.

Cougar Trails - Biking and Pedestrian Paths

The Cougar Trails project provides access for students, faculty, neighbors, hikers, bird watchers and joggers to several miles of walking and jogging paths that wind gracefully through meadows and mature forests along Mill Creek, just east of the WSU Vancouver campus. Many of the routes follow game trails, foot paths and early farm roads established by original homesteaders. Download a Cougar Trails map and brochure.

Designated jogging paths and the Interpretive Trails provide an all-weather walking surface wide enough for two people. Other unimproved trails are typical of what one would find in many forested areas in the region.

The Mill Creek Riparian Intepretive Trail has been incorporated into the WSU Vancouver Cougar Trails System. It is designed to expand our knowledge and understanding of the ecological functions of plant and soil systems that border a waterway. Maintaining good water quality in Mill Creek is necessary to preserve a healthy environment for the fish, wildlife and people who live in and along the creek.

Disc Golf Course

The 9-hole disc golf course is located directly behind the Library and Multimedia Buildings. The course is open to the public. Students, faculty and staff may checkout equipment at the Office of Student Involvement in the Library, room 19. Download a course map and scorecard (.pdf).
