Anthrosource update

The anthropology journals you know and trust, those from the American Anthropological Association, are now accessible through Wiley Interscience Journals. Anthrosource links on the WSU Vancouver website will be removed soon. Browse on over to Wiley, and you will find all the great content you used to find in Anthrosource.

Database Access Interrupted

Due to circumstances beyond the library’s control, many research databases became inaccessible Wednesday morning. Access is temporarily unavailable through the WSU Vancouver Library’s website. Please visit the WSU Libraries page to locate and link to your favorite databases: http://www.systems.wsu.edu/griffin/indexes.htm

Please be assured that we are doing everything possible to resolve this situation as soon as possible, but we do not know when full access will be restored.

Off Campus Access Problems

There are currently problems with off campus access to Library databases and electronic journals.  You may encounter error messages while trying to use these resources from off campus.  You can try accessing resources through the WSU Libraries (Pullman) website, though there have been reports of problems there as well.

We are working on this problem and will hopefully have it resolved shortly.  We’re sorry for any inconveniences this problem causes.

Important Note about Proquest

As you may know, a number of our journal databases are provided to all of the public universities in the state of Washington through the Cooperative Library Project. Starting today, July 1st, we moved from ProQuest and their collection of databases to EBSCO and their offerings. We have had a trial of EBSCO’s Academic Search Complete for the past year, so you may already be familiar with the interface.

EBSCO full-text databases, including Academic Search Complete, is replacing ProQuest Direct as the interdisciplinary, “first-stop” source for magazines and journals. EBSCO offers 1,500 more current peer reviewed full text titles than ProQuest.

As for newspaper coverage, we will continue to have access to Washington newspapers and selected national papers through ProQuest’s National Newspapers and Washington Newstand. We also now have access to approximately 1,000 current full text newspapers through Newsbank’s Access World News.

We will continue to have access to Ethnic Newswatch and the historical New York Times databases through Proquest.

Overview of Database Changes

If you used: Now use:
ABI Inform Business Source Complete
Proquest Direct Academic Search Complete
Proquest Newspapers Newsbank Access World News

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to let us know. Thanks!
