Textbooks

The Library cannot buy all the textbooks used in all the courses offered at WSU Vancouver. There are simply too many classes and too many textbooks for us to be able to purchase everything. You can, however, always double-check to see if your textbooks are available here or at another library.

If you are looking for a copy of a text used in one of your courses, there are a few things you can try:

1)  Sometimes, instructors will place books (and other readings) on reserve through the Library.  Your instructor will tell you if they have placed items on reserve and they will give you a password for your class reserves.  Course reserves can be found by searching for instructor or your course.  (See your instructor for the password.)

2)  You can check to see if WSU owns a copy of your textbook by searching Griffin, the WSU Libraries catalog.  This will tell you if the book is available here in Vancouver or at one of the other campuses.  If you find the text at another campus, click on the “Request” button to have it delivered here.

3)  You can also check to see if the book is available at another college or university by searching Summit, a catalog of 38 libraries in Oregon and Washington.  If you find the text at another library, click on the “Request Summit Item” button to have it delivered here.

If you have any questions about finding textbooks or any of the steps listed above, feel free to contact us.  We’re happy to help.
